Community Engagement Consultant (Capital Projects) – Growth and Development

Description

Reporting to the Vice President, Growth and Development, the Community Engagement Consultant (Capital Projects) serves as Covenant Health's ambassador in Northern Calgary, Airdrie and surrounding communities. You'll spend your time building trusted relationships with community leaders, attending local events, identifying opportunities for collaboration and ensuring communities are informed, engaged and connected as Covenant Health expands access to health care.

Success in this role means being visible, approachable and engaged. One day you may be meeting with municipal leaders, faith organizations or Indigenous community representatives. The next you could be attending a neighborhood festival, speaking at a community association meeting, participating in a cultural celebration or connecting with local organizations to strengthen partnerships. Every conversation is an opportunity to build trust and create lasting relationships.

Working closely with project leaders, Marketing and Communications, Strategic Partnerships and operational leaders, you'll develop and implement community engagement strategies that encourage meaningful participation and create two-way dialogue. You'll organize public engagement activities, facilitate information sessions, prepare briefing materials, monitor community sentiment and provide strategic advice that helps leadership understand emerging opportunities and concerns.

You'll also identify influential community partners, establish sustainable networks and ensure Covenant Health remains an active, visible and trusted member of the communities we serve. Through thoughtful engagement, data-informed insights and exceptional communication, you'll help ensure community perspectives are reflected in planning while strengthening awareness and support for Covenant Health's future.

What education and experience you bring:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Business, Public Administration or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

• 5 years of experience building strategic relationships, leading stakeholder engagement or representing an organization within a community.

• Experience developing partnerships with elected officials, community organizations, Indigenous communities, faith-based organizations, business leaders or other influential stakeholders.

What skills you bring:

• Outstanding communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences and build trust quickly.

• Strong political and organizational awareness, enabling you to navigate complex stakeholder environments with diplomacy and professionalism.

• Demonstrated experience influencing without formal authority while balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.

• Exceptional judgment, discretion and integrity when working with sensitive or confidential information.

• Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, shifting priorities and competing deadlines.

• Experience analyzing community feedback, identifying emerging issues and providing strategic recommendations to senior leaders.

• A valid driver's license and the ability to travel regularly throughout the Northern Calgary, Airdrie and surrounding communities, including occasional evening and weekend community events.
