Northern Alberta Development Council bursary
Bonnyville Health Centre has partnered with the Northern Alberta Development Council (NADC) to provide a bursary of up to $7,000 for nursing students entering their final year of school.
Working at the Bonnyville Health Centre, students may be eligible to have a portion of their student loans forgiven through the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
Eligibility requirements
- Be enrolled in a fulltime nursing program in Alberta
- Be in your final year of studies
- Lived in Alberta for at least one year prior to applying
- Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Agree to work at the Bonnyville Health Centre as a nurse after graduation
- Be willing to sign a return service agreement
- Not be a current employee of Covenant Health
Return of service agreements
Those selected to receive a bursary will be required to work at the Bonnyville Health Centre for a minimum period of time - one month (or the equivalent number of hours) for each $500 of bursary support. For example, if your total bursary amount is $3,500, you would need to work seven months or the equivalent in part-time or casual hours.
The return service agreements for Covenant Health and NADC are served concurrently but are separate from any other return service agreements with Covenant Health or NADC.
Recipients who do not meet the terms of the agreements will have to repay a portion of the bursary (or bursaries).
How to apply
- Complete the NADC Bursary Partnership Program Student Application Form and save a copy.
- Upload the application form along with a copy of your resume to the Covenant Health NADC Bursary portal.
Applications are open from September 16 to October 6, 2024. Late applications will not be considered.
Successful applicants
We will contact successful applicants via e-mail by mid-November. We will ask you to complete and sign a Covenant Health return for service agreement and confirm that you are eligible for the Covenant Health portion of the bursary.
NADC review
Successful applicants agree to have their personal information shared between Covenant Health, the NADC and Alberta Advanced Education. The NADC shares required information with Alberta Advanced Education to complete their eligibility review.
If you are eligible, Alberta Advanced Education will give you the NADC return service agreement.
Payments
Covenant Health and Alberta Advanced Education will issue separate payments. You will receive them once the NADC return service agreement has been signed and we have confirmed your program enrollment.
The amount of support and your return of service agreement may change if your eligibility changes before you start working at Bonnyville Health Centre. In this case you may need to sign a new agreement with Covenant Health and/or the NADC.
