Our hearing screening services are quick and safe and will not hurt your baby. They ensure you and your baby receive support as soon as possible. 

Services

• hearing screening for babies up to five months old
• diagnosis of permanent hearing loss 
• access to intervention for babies and families by six months old 
• follow-up hearing tests

Eligibility 

All babies born in Alberta or born to parents living in Alberta can have hearing screening within five months of birth. 

Referral

Your baby does not need a referral if they are under five months old. 

If you are concerned about your baby’s hearing after they are five months old, your doctor can make a referral.
