Learn about research exploring nurses' perspectives on deprescribing in long-term care, including barriers to participation and practical strategies to support safer medication use.
Polypharmacy and deprescribing are important considerations in long-term care, where nurses play a central role in supporting safe and appropriate medication use. This Lunch & Learn will present findings from a published qualitative study exploring nurses' perspectives on deprescribing in long-term care facilities in Edmonton.
Participants will gain an overview of polypharmacy and deprescribing, learn about the barriers nurses identified to participating in deprescribing initiatives, and explore practical tools and strategies to strengthen nursing involvement and improve medication appropriateness in long-term care.
