November 4, 2026 · 12:00 - 1:00pm
Organized by: Covenant Health
Audience: General public Healthcare professionals
Explore unconscious bias and microaggressions, their impact on colleagues and patients, and ways to recognize and reduce them.
We all hold beliefs about our own and other social groups/identities within our social world. Throughout our lives we develop and act according to stereotypes, many of which we are unaware. In other words, we all hold unconscious biases. These biases, along with behaviors known as microaggressions can and do harm to our colleagues and patients. They also significantly impact on the culture within which we work and serve. In this session, participants will learn about both unconscious bias and microaggressions and their impacts while gaining an increased awareness of their own unconscious bias, one of the most important steps in addressing unconscious bias and how to reduce the microaggressions that can sometimes unwittingly stem from it.
