Last spring, when Covenant staff participated in Indigenous Health Education Days, a program designed to address anti-Indigenous racism in health care and to promote culturally safe care, they were joined by artist Candace Ramjohn. Her graphic recordings of the education sessions led to A Path of Respect and Healing, a piece of art now installed at four Covenant sites.
The piece reflects ideas and experiences shared by Covenant staff on providing compassionate and culturally safe care for Indigenous patients, residents and families. Its design incorporates symbols that honour Indigenous knowledge, culture and resilience, making it a meaningful expression of learning, collaboration, respect and reconciliation.
