Meet Morgan Anderson
Licensed practical nurse, Misericordia Community Hospital
July 21, 2023
For Morgan Anderson, a licensed practical nurse at the Misericordia Community Hospital, art has always been part of life.
“I have been doing art for as long as I can remember,” she says. “I started to enjoy it more through junior high and high school as I took art classes.”
So when the opportunity came up to use the halls of her workplace ― the hospital’s postpartum unit ― as a canvas, Morgan didn’t hesitate.
The educator for postpartum, Jill Watson, along with Linda Brad, program manager, women's and child health, wanted to find a way to decorate their area with art.
“They had the idea to beautify our unit, and so I took on the challenge of creating something to display.”
After some team voting on design concepts and approvals from administration, Morgan got to work on her masterpiece.
“The rainbow was a success that brought light and brightness to our unit, which then led to the other projects.”
As a nurse, Morgan enjoys bringing brightness to the patients she serves.
“Being able to help patients and families through tough hospital admissions and recent changes to their lives is something I really enjoy.”
“I love that I’m a part of making parents feel confident going home with their brand-new baby.”
A supportive team atmosphere is also something Morgan greatly values in her role at the Misericordia.
“The Misericordia has always been a long drive, but the staff is something I would always drive for. I had one experience at a different hospital where I did not feel as supported, and it wasn’t a place where I wanted to be.”
Despite the challenges healthcare workers have faced over the last few years, Morgan says she would still recommend the nursing profession to anyone considering it.
“I think through the pandemic nursing has not had the greatest appeal, but it is worth it, and they should follow their dreams.”
