Meet Rose Sanchez, unit clerk, St. Joseph’s Home
June 7, 2023
A unit clerk at St. Joseph’s Home for six years, Rose Sanchez is known for her keen eye for detail, efficiency and focus on workplace safety. But one of her favourite parts of the job is lending a listening ear to patients and visitors.
“I really enjoy the people I get to interact with,” Rose says. “I have more interaction with family members and visitors, but I do get to see the patients when they come for a walk.”
“We have a really wonderful team of people here. You can tell everyone enjoys their work and wants to care for patients and families. The staff are so caring and compassionate, and they all want to do the extra bit to help people.”
Rose was recently nominated for a Covenant Mission Award for Stewardship by her peers at St. Joseph’s Home. Her creative approach to finding solutions has helped her team reduce waste, cover shifts effectively, streamline complex processes and more.
“I think that when you enjoy what you do and the people it doesn’t feel like work. I enjoy coming to work every day, and I feel so fortunate that I work for a company that makes me feel that way. I’m thankful for the people who recognized me.”
Outside of her role as unit clerk, Rose is active in giving back to the community. She also supports the COVE Comfort Closet, often on her own time. Staff at St. Joseph’s Home initiated the program, which collects toiletries, pajamas and other items patients need to be comfortable during their hospital stay.
