Show Your Shine

The Share Your Shine campaign sees Misericordia Community Hospital emergency department staff nominate each other for their great work and compassion. Each time a nomination form is drawn, a nominee and their nominator receive a pair of these beautiful Sparkle Studs from Stella & Dot, who donated 46 pairs with the help of many individual donors who wanted to give back to frontline healthcare workers.

Emergency department Unit Manager Jessica Fryk says that while staff often receive praise from leaders or other units, hearing it from their peers means a lot.

“It’s nice to be recognized by your peers,” says Jessica Fryk, unit manager, emergency department. “They see the small things they do, like spending extra time with patients and families.”

Jalayne Sontag, a registered nurse, says it was uplifting to hear the kind words shared by the colleague who nominated her.

“I was very honoured,” she says. “It felt nice that my co-worker nominated me, and it’s a nice way to shed positive light. We all really appreciated it—thank you Stella & Dot!”
