Network of Excellence in Seniors’ Health and Wellness
The Network of Excellence in Seniors’ Health and Wellness (NESHW) brings partners together to support healthy aging for seniors. We work with others to promote innovation and excellence in seniors’ health by generating ideas, transforming care and services and sharing knowledge.
Activities
We foster change through four key activities:
- Innovate and design — We work with others to develop new ideas into support models that complement and strengthen the health system as a whole.
- Act and evaluate — We co-ordinate and implement projects to improve the system and evaluate processes and practices.
- Advocate and transform — We build stakeholder interest and commitment by creating trusting relationships that support partnerships and inspire transformative change.
- Translate and disseminate — We share research, best practices and new thinking to support system change and innovation.
Focus areas
NESHW has three main areas of focus.
Seniors’ Innovation Platform
Our Seniors’ Innovation Platform is a hub for planning, piloting, refining and scaling solutions to challenges seniors face in accessing products, providers and services.
The platform aims to:
- show how innovation (technology, changes in care models, etc.) can help seniors access and navigate all aspects of the resources they need to age at home
- develop, test and pilot solutions that will improve quality of life for seniors and allow them to continue living in their communities
- model a truly senior-focused system that identifies challenges and co-designs solutions by engaging with seniors, families and caregivers alongside partners
- build a culture of innovation that encourages change at all levels of the organization and system, including government, through technology, policies and processes
COURAGE
COURAGE: Action for Better Aging is a national initiative led by Covenant and SE Health. It has invited Canadians to reimagine aging in our country, spark innovation and build an action plan for change. The resulting Roadmap for Action outlines 16 recommendations for ensuring people can live full, active lives in their communities as they age.
Home and community supports
We are looking at ways to work with home and community support organizations to meet the full needs of seniors and their caregivers and enable successful aging at home.
New collaboration seeks public input on the future of aging
The Covenant family is reshaping seniors' care in Canada through the CourAGE initiative, which invites stakeholders to help reimagine aging in the country.
