Perinatal outpatient mental health clinic
We provide early intervention, preventative care and mental health supports to patients during the perinatal period (from 12 weeks' pregnant to one year after giving birth).
Services
- intake and treatment planning
- one-to-one support from a mental health clinician
- perinatal groups that provide dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)-focused psychoeducation.
- drop-in support groups
- social work and psychiatry consultations

Information for referring professionals
Our clinic is accepting referrals starting January 6, 2025 from Misericordia Community Hospital clinicians, including:
- psychiatrists
- emergency department physicians and psychiatrists
- obstetricians, general physicians and midwives with admitting/birthing privileges
- NICU staff and social workers
- nurses working in the above program areas
Patient eligibility criteria
Inclusion criteria
- 18 years of age or older
- has primary care physician in community
- 12 weeks' pregnant to one-year post-partum
Exclusion criteria
- under 18 years of age
- primary addictions disorder
- under care of a psychiatrist (a psychiatrist-to-psychiatrist consult may be arranged)
- third-party assessments (e.g. lawyer/court, child welfare, WCB, AISH)
Referral channels
You can refer patients by:

- faxing the completed referral form and Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale to 780.735.2549
