Facial prosthetics
Overview
Our Facial Reconstruction program helps people with missing or altered facial parts due to surgery, illness or injury. We provide custom-made prostheses to restore your appearance and function. Care is offered by a team of plastic surgeons, maxillofacial prosthodontists, anaplastologists and other specialists.
How prostheses are made
We design and create each prosthesis using advanced digital technology and silicone. It is carefully coloured and shaped to match the patient's natural skin tone and anatomy. Patients and family members are encouraged to take part in the design process. The prosthesis is attached using implants placed in the bone (osseointegration), adhesives or eyeglasses.
Types of prostheses
- Ear prostheses: Replace part or all of the outer ear
- Nose prostheses: Restore the shape and structure of the nose
- Eye prostheses: Replace the eye and surrounding tissue for a natural appearance
- Other midface prostheses: Restore other facial structures as needed
Patient journey: What to expect
