Plan Ahead toolkit
Is your organization interested in running initiatives to help members of your community plan ahead?
The Plan Ahead toolkit contains information on health, financial and estate planning in Alberta. It also provides guidance on running community education sessions.
Please note that this toolkit is not an exhaustive resource on planning ahead for all situations. It is intended to introduce the essential planning processes and documents in Alberta.
What's in the toolkit?
The following materials offer an introduction to health, financial and estate planning and the three key planning documents in Alberta (personal directives, enduring powers of attorney and wills):

- Plan Ahead facilitator guide: Tips and resources for facilitating effective education sessions

Putting the toolkit into practice: Personal directive workshop
Use the following resources to deliver a workshop focused on health planning and the creation of personal directives. These materials provide an example of how the Plan Ahead Toolkit has been used to support more in-depth learning.

- Values directive worksheet: Exercises to help articulate and document one’s wishes, values and beliefs regarding health and personal care

- Be an Agent: A guide from the Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta with information on what to know before and while acting as an agent named in someone’s personal directive (print it yourself or order free professionally printed copies)
