Steve Lucas

Steve Lucas brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to his role as vice president, clinical development and transformation. With expertise in clinical operations, strategic planning and health system improvement, Steve brings a collaborative approach to leading complex healthcare services and delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Before joining Covenant's executive leadership team in October 2026, Steve served as senior program officer for surgery, supporting coordinated surgical planning and performance improvement across Alberta. Previously, he was senior director of operations for surgery at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital and Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton, where he oversaw integrated surgical operations and worked to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.

Steve holds a master's degree in health studies and has a clinical background in perioperative nursing. His experience spanning frontline clinical care, hospital operations and provincial health system leadership informs his approach to strengthening collaboration, improving access to care and supporting sustainable health system improvements.
